Change of the basis of the assessment of products. In years 1982-1992 certificates of product attestation were issued on the basis of Regulation no. 9/82 on technical requirements that shall be met by equipment and fire-fighting devices as well as chemical extinguishing agents, issued by the Chief Commandant of the State Fire Service on May 30, 1982.

CNBOP was named after Józef Tuliszkowski under Regulation no. 4 of the Minister of Interior and Administration of January 23, 1997 (Official Journal of the Ministry of Interior and Administration No. 2 item 22).
1998
Establishing at CNBOP a Certification Department aimed at the assessment of the compliance of marketed products used for fire protection.
Department - Laboratory of Fire Signalling and Fire Automation gained accreditation of the Polish Centre for Testing and Accreditation, certificate no. L 207/1/98 (currently Accreditation Certificate no. AB 207 issued by the Polish Centre for Accreditation).
Change of the basis of product assessment. In years 1998-2007 product certification was carried out on the basis of delegated Article 7 of Fire Protection Act and the Regulation of April 22, 1998 on the products used in fire protection which can be marketed and used only after acquiring conformity certificate issued by the Ministry of Interior and Administration (Journal of Laws no. 55, item 362, 1998).
1999
CNBOP Certification Department obtained accreditation of the Polish Centre for Testing and Accreditation no 63/Cw-69/99 (currently accreditation certificate no. AC 063 issued by the Polish Centre for Accreditation).
2001
Another three laboratories obtained the accreditation of the Polish Centre for Testing and Administration:
Department - Laboratory of Technical Fire Protection was granted the Accreditation Certificate no. L 305/1/2000 (then accreditation certificate no. AB 305 issued by the Polish Centre for Accreditation);
Laboratory of Extinguishing Media and Portable Equipment, certificate no L 306/1/2000 (then Department - Laboratory of Technical Fire Protection no. AB 305 issued by the Polish Centre for Accreditation);
Laboratory of Vehicles and Equipment was granted accreditation certificate no. 307/1/2000 (then Department - Laboratory of Technical Equipment of Fire Service, accreditation certificate no. AB 059, AB 060 issued by the Polish Centre for Certification).
2002
Extension of CNBOP scope of activities with the matters related to civil protection under the Regulation of the Minister of Interior and Administration.
2003
Transformation of CNBOP from a public-budget entity into a research and development unit in accordance with the Act of July 25, 1985 on Research and Development Entities.
CNBOP was registered in the National Court Register and obtained authorisation of the Ministry of Economy, Labour and Social Policy under the Directive no. 89/686/EWG of December 21, 1989 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to personal protective equipment.
2004
CNBOP obtained authorisation of the Minister of Infrastructure under the Directive no. 89/106/EWG of December 21, 1988 on the approximation of laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States relating to construction products.
CNBOP obtained notification of the European Commission (notification no. 1438) within the scope of the following Directives:
89/686/EWG of December 21, 1989 on the approximation of law provisions of the Member States relating to personal protective equipment;
89/106/EWG of December 21, 1988 on the approximation of laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States relating to construction products.
Establishment of Technical Approval Department, aimed at realising the tasks of CNBOP within the scope of the control of Regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure of November 8, 2004 on technical approvals and organisational units entitled to issue them (Journal of Laws no. 249, item 2497).
CNBOP started performing conformity assessment of construction products – according to the European conformity assessment system – the CE marking, and according to the national conformity assessment system – B construction mark.
2005

From the date of June 1, 2005 under the art. 21, sec 2 of the Act of July 25, 1985 on research and development entities (Journal of Laws 2001, no. 33 item 388 as amended) the Minister of Interior and Administration appointed st. bryg Eugeniusz W. Roguski, PhD, Eng. the Director of the Scientific and Research Centre for Fire Protection, chosen through a competition in accordance with the Regulation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of September 10, 2001 (Journal of Laws no. 101, item 1101).
2007
Change of the basis of product assessment. Since 2007, certificates of admittance have been issued on the basis of delegated Fire Protection Act and on the basis of the Regulation of the Ministry of Interior and Administration of June 20, 2007 amended by the Regulation of the Ministry of Interior and Administration of April 27, 2010.
2009
Inclusion (announcement no. 8 of March 31, 2009) by the Minister of Science and Higher Education the CNBOP Quarterly „Safety and Fire Technique” into the list of journals which attributed points to the academic achievements of the authors, the articles of whom were published (4 points in 2009, 6 point since 2010 and 7 points since 2012).

On May 1, 2009 pursuant to the Act of July 25, 1985 on Research and Development Entities art. 21, sec 2 (Journal of Laws 2008, no. 159, item 993), the Minister of Interior and Administration appointed mł. bryg. Dariusz Wróblewski, PhD, Eng. The Director of the Scientific and Research Centre for Fire Protection. The Director was chosen through a competition in accordance with the Regulation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of September 21, 2007 (Journal of Laws no. 182, item 1330).
2010
Scientific and Research Centre for Fire Protection (CNBOP) was granted by the Council of Ministers the status of a National Research Institute (Journal of Laws, no. 181, item 1219) thus joining the elite group of a few national research institutes.
CNBOP-PIB was graded the second category by the Minister of Science and Higher Education in its parametric assessment (according to the current classification – category B)
2011
CNBOP Combustion Processes and Explosion Laboratories were granted accreditation by the Polish Centre for Accreditation, certificate no. AB 1280.
Introduction of a new logo for CNBOP-PIB.
CNBOP-PIB was granted nomination for the Polish Promotional Emblem „Teraz Polska” [Poland Now] in the IV Edition of Competition for Innovative projects for its educational project „Multimedia and teleinformatic tools supporting education of local communities in the field of enlarging their resistance to threats related to natural disasters and catastrophes”.
2012
CNBOP-PIB was granted the Polish Promotional Emblem „Teraz Polska” in the V edition of the „Poland Now” Competition for Innovative Projects for designing of the innovative „Wetting agent for extinguishing forest and peat-bog fires”.
2013
CNBOP-PIB was granted the nomination for the Polish Promotional Emblem „Teraz Polska” in the VI edition of the Competition for Innovative Projects for the CNBOP quarterly „Safety and Fire Technique”.
CNBOP-PIB maintained the B category in the parametric assessment conducted by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. CNBOP-PIB was classified on the forth position within the common assessment group.
In the rating of the B group performed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Quarterly obtained 9 out of 10 points.
2014
On April 30, 2014 mł. bryg. Dariusz Wróblewski, PhD Eng., finished his mandate as the director.
On May 5, 2014, pursuant to the art. 24 sec. 5 of the Act of Research Institutes of April 30, 2010 (Journal of Laws 2010, no. 96, item 618 as amended) the Minister of Interior appointed Ewa Rudnik, Prof. PhD Eng. the new acting director of the institution.
CNBOP-PIB was granted Polish Promotional Emblem „Teraz Polska” in the VII edition of „Poland Now” Competition for Innovative Projects for designing an innovative agent designed to remove oil contamination from industrial infrastructure.
On August 8, 2014, pursuant to the art. 24, sec. 5 of the Act of Research Institutes of April 30, 2010 (Journal of Laws 2010, no. 96, item 618 as amended) the Minister of Interior appointed bryg. Jacek Zboina, PhD Eng. the new acting director.
On December 22, 2014 the General Headquarters of Civil Defence, Ministry of Interior of the United Arab Emirates recognized CNBOP-PIB Certification Department and BA Research Laboratory in the scope of fire alarm equipment. Consequently, CNBOP-PIB can issue certificates of conformity, which are respected in the UAE market, based on constancy of performance certificates (CPR) held by the Clients and issued by CNBOP-PIB.
2015
On January 1, 2015, pursuant to the art. 24, sec. 2 of the Act of Research Institutes of April 30, 2010 (Journal of Laws 2010, no. 96, item 618 as amended) the Minister of Interior appointed bryg. Dariusz WRÓBLEWSKI, PhD Eng. as the new Director. The Director was chosen through competition based on the Regulation of Ministry of Science and Higher Education of October 28, 2010 (Journal of Laws no. 215, item 1412).
2016
On day 18th March 2016 CNBOP-PIB has been granted the certificate which confirms that quality management system meets the requirements of PN-EN ISO 9001:2009.
The scope has been embraced all areas of activity such as: “scientific and research activity, trainings, editorial and approval, certification, certification of admittance activity, including laboratory testing, expert reporting and technical opinion, in the scope of firefighting protection and civil defence”.
Under the Decision of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction No 1/JOT/WB/16 of 22 June 2016 CNBOP-PIB has been authorised to fulfil the function of a Technical Assessment Body (TAB). This Decision allows the Institute to issue European Technical Assessments, as well as, according to art. 9 sec. 2 item 1 of the Act of 25 June 2015 on the amendment of the Act on construction products and the Act – Law (..) on compliance assessment, allows it to issue National Technical Assessments.
2017
On the basis of a complex evaluation of scientific or R&D activities carried out by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, CNBOP-PIB maintained its B category. It was on the fifth position within the group of common assessment.
2018
On 1 October 2018 under the art. 24 sec. 2 item 3 of the Act of 30 April 2010 on research institutes, art. 86 and 87 sec. 1 of the Act on the State Fire Service, as well as, art. 2, 4 and 5 of the Regulation of the Minister of Interior of 27 February 2008 on the emolument of State Fire Service firefighters the Minister of Interior appointed st. bryg. Paweł JANIK, Ph.D. to the post of CNBOP-PIB Director.
On 10 December 2018 new Editorial Committee of “Safety & Fire Technology” (until the end of 2018 “Safety & Fire Technique”) was appointed. St. bryg. Paweł Janik, Ph.D. became an Editor-in-Chief of the Journal.
2019
On the basis of the announcement of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 18 January 2019 the Publishing House of CNBOP-PIB was included in the list of publishers of reviewed scientific monographs: Level I, 80 pts.
CNBOP-PIB Scientific Journal “Safety & Fire Technology” (until the end of 2018 “Safety & Fire Technique”) was admitted to the programme of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education entitled “Support for scientific journals”.
With regard to the positive result of the audit, carried out by the Military University of Technology Quality Certification Center (CCJ WAT) on 21 February 2019 within the recertification of QMS compliance with PN-EN ISO 9001:2015-10 requirements, CNBOP-PIB was granted a certificate confirming meeting these requirements.
2020
On the basis of the positive result of the audit carried out by the Military University of Technology Quality Certification Center (CCJ WAT) within the recertification of QMS compliance with PN-EN ISO 9001:2015-10 requirements, CNBOP-PIB was granted a certificate No. 1169/S/2019 confirming meeting these requirements. The certificate is valid from 18.03.2019 until 17.03.2022.
2021
Under the Decision of Minister of Education and Science CNBOP-PIB scientific journal entitled „Safety & Fire Technology” (previous name: “BITP. Bezpieczeństwo i Technika Pożarnicza/ Safety & Fire Technique”) was awarded 40 points in the list of scientific Journals of the Ministry.
2022
In the 2017–2021 evaluation CNBOP-PIB by the Minister of Education and Science of Poland was granted B+ category in the discipline of environmental engineering, mining and energy.
