Privacy policy and the use of cookies on CNBOP-PIB websites
The Scientific and Research Center for Fire Protection – National Research Institute attaches particular importance to respecting the privacy of users visiting websites in the *.cnbop.pl domain. The data collected in log files is used only for the purposes of administering the website. We do not seek to identify users of the Institute’s websites. No identifying information, for any purpose, is passed on to any third party.
Data collection
In accordance with the accepted practice of most websites, we store HTTP queries directed to our server. Browsed resources are identified by URL addresses. The exact list of information stored in the web server log files is as follows:
- public IP address of the computer from which the query came (it can be directly the user’s computer),
- username provided in the authorization process,
- query arrival time,
- first line of the HTTP request,
- HTTP response code,
- the number of bytes sent by the server,
- URL address of the page previously visited by the user (referrer link) – if the Office’s website was accessed via a link,
- information about the user’s browser,
- information about errors that occurred during the HTTP transaction.
These data are not associated with specific people viewing the Institute’s websites. To ensure the highest quality of the website, we occasionally analyze log files to determine: which pages are visited most often, what web browsers are used, whether the page structure does not contain errors, etc.
Use of data
The collected logs are stored for an indefinite period of time as auxiliary material used to administer the website. The information contained therein is not disclosed to anyone other than persons authorized to administer the server and the CNBOP-PIB network. Based on log files, statistics can be generated to help with administration. Collective summaries in the form of such statistics do not contain any features identifying people visiting the website.
