Scope of activity

CNBOP-PIB, acting as a Technical Assessment Unit, is authorized to issue European Technical Assessments for the following groups of construction products:

• power, control and communication cables,
• fixed fire extinguishing devices (fire detection and alarm products, fixed fire extinguishing devices, products for controlling the spread of fire and smoke and for explosion suppression),
• fire stopping, sealing and fire protection products, flame retardant products.

The Technical Assessment Body (TAB) issues a European Technical Assessment at the request of the manufacturer, on the basis of a European Assessment Document established in accordance with the procedure described in Article. 21 and Annex II to Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council. ‘European Technical Assessment’ means a documented assessment of the performance of a construction product in relation to its essential characteristics in accordance with the relevant European Assessment Document.

The European Technical Assessment is issued for a clearly identified product by a specific manufacturer. If two manufacturers produce a product with the same structure, dimensions and from the same material, then due to possible differences in technology and production organization that may affect the final quality of the product or scope of application, each of them should have a separate European Technical Assessment for its product.

The European Technical Assessment is not a document authorizing marketing and use in construction, it is only a technical specification in the process of assessing the performance of a construction product and issuing, based on this assessment, a certificate of constancy of performance or a declaration of performance – documents authorizing products for circulation and use in construction.

European Assessment Document means the document adopted by the TAB organization for the purpose of issuing European Technical Assessments. Detailed information on European Technical Assessments is available at: www.eota.eu
