Laboratory of Fire Extinguishing Agents and Equipment – BU

The Laboratory was established in February 2016 by merging the former Chemical and Fire Research Laboratory with the permanent Fire Extinguishing Equipment section.

Currently the tasks performed by the Laboratory are related to the broad spectrum of fire protection issues. Research and development tasks performed by the experienced personnel are the basis of performing research and development projects and to offer our clients drawing up of procedures and performing tests aimed at receiving certificates of admittance, certification or technical assessments.

The Laboratory carries out tests of hand-held equipment, which is crucial for the effectiveness of its use during firefighting activities. It determines the scope of use and suitability of modern chemical preparations used in rescue and firefighting operations, and also conducts work on the structure and properties of extinguishing agents and sorbents. The scope of the research includes fixed firefighting systems.

The Laboratory issues opinions and gives expertise on the application of firefighting equipment and agents as well as the components of fixed firefighting systems. BU Laboratory performs quality assurance of production batches of extinguishing agents supplied to users and verifies the quality and effectiveness of further use of the extinguishing agents, the date of appropriate use of which has expired. It issues opinions on sprinklers after 10 or 25-year exploitation period in fixed fire-extinguishing systems.
